The harvest has shifted to late summer crops as you will notice in tomorrows share of veggies - Spaghetti Squash, Butternut Squash, Okra and of course Tomatoes. The Crowder Peas are just developing and I hope some will be ready for our last delivery next week. This time of the season harvesting takes up most all of the farm time – that and of course, mowing. I orderd fall amendments this week but soil testing and planting fall crops is still not yet on the “to do” list.

I went on Sunday to the Ugarden at UGA to visit with my friend Noelle that runs the medicinal herb part of the farm. I am growing several medicinal herbs this season including holy basil, ashwaganda, red clover, st. johns wort, calendula and chamomile.  I learned so much about different varieties and we discussed harvesting and curing. Attached is a picture of me with a tray of calendula, chamomile and a fully loaded rack of holy basil harvested that morning from my farm that will be dried in the shipping container dehydration system at Ugarden. Am looking forward to returning in a few weeks to help with their herb harvest and learn more these amazing plant allies.
